Medicaid in Georgia, called for transparency in health care to
give consumers the information they need to select providers and
services based on cost and quality. Click here

There are a number of ways in which Georgia hospitals are supporting
consumer-driven health care.
GHA member hospitals assist Georgia health care consumers by
providing them with pricing information and guidance to help them
make the best health care choices possible. We have included information
to help you understand how to get the best quality care no matter
what you health care coverage circumstances.
The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) partnered with the Wisconsin
Hospital Association (WHA) to develop GAHospitalPriceCheck.org,
a consumer-friendly database of hospital average charges, number
of cases and average length of stay. The software program used
on this website was produced in part using computer software created,
owned and licensed by the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA)
Information Center, LLC. All copyrights in and to WHAIC's PricePoint
Software are owned by WHAIC. All rights reserved. The Georgia
Hospital Association has also included information about how hospitals
support and give back to their local community. The quality part
of this report, called, GAHospitalQualityCheck.org
has been available since 2002. Together, the Pricing and Quality
Guides are called Insights 2008, a consumer Guide to Georgia Hospitals.
This information helps you understand hospital charge information
for all Georgia hospitals, all services, and the average length
of stay.
Please note: The information for average length of stay, average
and median charges is adjusted according to how sick you are during
your care. All individuals are different and come to the hospital
with their own needs. It is adjusted using what is called the
All Payor Severity Adjusted - Diagnosis Related Group (APS-DRG
). The APS-DRG was developed by HSS, Inc. The APS-DRG are based
on studies that the Center for Medicare and Medicaid sponsored
and was enhanced to include all payors.
Publicly reported hospital charge, quality and safety data, adjustable
by severity of illness (how sick the patient is), may not answer
every question, but GAHospitalPriceCheck.org can be used as a
guide to provide you good and factual starting point for more
informed discussion between consumers and insurers, or consumers
and providers of care. Please contact your hospital for more information
regarding hospital charges, quality and safety information
